Not Just Pooja...
From Khatron Ke Khiladi to Bigg Boss
|
Where does she see herself? "Somewhere in between. I am fortunate that I have the unequivocal support of my family and have a plethora of friends with the same interests and open mindedness. You can call us a bohemian, modern progressive generation of yuppies."
"What others have to think is really of no concern to me. I am happy in my phase at this time," she says. "I have been married and enjoyed sharing that experience with my husband and producing two children. And now I am enjoying my single-hood as a single mother raising two children and concentrating on my career and making a difference in the world."
How does she react to being labeled a "sex symbol"? "Well I certainly don't mind it," she laughs and adds, "Although I don't see myself as extremely beautiful and sexy. I feel adjectives like clean, fresh and different would describe me more."
Her most endearing quality? "Confidence. I am comfortable to be me and to be in my skin. I learnt early to shed my complexities and insecurities because in essence even if your father is Kabir Bedi, an international star and mother was Protima Bedi, an international danseuse, I am Pooja and have to count on myself."
She continues, "My favorite saying has always been people look at me and laugh because I am different. I look at them and laugh because they are all the same."
She believes in the power of humor. "I believe you have to be able to find the comedy in life... because life would just be so run of the mill other wise."
What makes Pooja so endearing to others? Till date the star has not been embroiled in any controversies or any untoward rivalry with another? "I think my motto in life to believe in myself has been instilled deeply by my parents and I believe in my motto. And because of that I don't worry about others and their opinions."
It's been 10 years since her mother, the ethereal rebel Protima Bedi, died in a tragic avalanche accident. "I remember my mother everyday. I think of her in my good times and talk to her in my lone moments."
Does she still believe in love following a failed marriage and a broken serious relationship? "Absolutely. I live for love. I am a hopeless romantic. I believe my Prince Charming just hasn't found me yet."
So who would he resemble should he arrive? "Obviously George Clooney," she says. "I think he is the perfect guy. Super, sexy and fun." She adds, "He's also eloquent, naughty, a Taurean. And they love to be fed. And I love to feed," she says with a glint of mischief.
Where can we see Pooja in five years? "Happily married to my Prince Charming even if he's not George Clooney, working hard and dealing with teenage issues of my then teenage children, and hopefully working in charities and successfully donating time and money to making this world a place our children can inherit with pride.
