Not Just Pooja...
From Khatron Ke Khiladi to Bigg Boss
|
''People look at me and laugh because I am different. I look at them and laugh because they are all the same.''
The elusive, sexy, intelligent and sophisticated femme fatale Pooja Bedi is definitely not ''Just Pooja'' - on screen or off. If you've not met the damsel it is a sincere loss. She continues to re-invent, re-invigorate, re-imagine, and revive her self and her life… and believe it or not it shows.
Pooja was most recently one of the celebrity contestants on Khatron Ke Khiladi where she not only sky-dived from 30000 feet and straddled two speeding boats but also swallowed a cockroach and held her breath under water to name a few of the exciting challenges.
From the hunky Khiladi's set in Cape Town Africa she stepped on to the stage outside Bigg Boss's house where she interviewed the exiting contestants in the segment ''Akhri Salaam''. To say it's been a hectic and heady six months would be an understatement.
Shaaditimes caught up with the star recently in Mumbai.
''Yeah it's been crazy,'' admits the glam gal but qualifies, ''it's been a good crazy.'' The first question that comes to mind is what was it like, working with the Khiladi himself - Akshay Kumar. "Well if you want to know the truth... he really is fearless and a true life hero in person," she gushes.
''The fear factor and high energy was a rush in itself and being a member on a show of this stature was like breathing adrenalin and a once in a lifetime experience.''
Would she consider participating next year? She mulls over the question for a moment and says, "No I think once is enough." She pauses, "I mean it was thrilling and super fun, don't get me wrong. We girls got along really well all thirteen of us... we were thick as thieves," she laughs. "But I think I would not participate because it is mainly unfair to the others and why take away from someone else's experience?"
What was Akshay like? "Well put it this way he didn't flinch having to jump 12 floors and he does all the stunts with such panache. He is my hero."
Enjoying the much needed rest, Pooja spends her downtime changing the interiors of her spacious and tastefully decorated ocean front flat. Despite her glamorous avatar she really is a domesticated diva and enjoys epicurean feasts, which are prepared by herself. She is also a devoted mother of two school children and makes sure her schedule fits around her children's needs.
How does she see woman of today? "An Indian woman's spirit is her trump card. The problem if any that most women have and that may potentially limit their success in career or on the home front is lack of family support. But in the same vein, for an Indian woman, if she has a good equation with her husband, he can be her strength and motivator.
