Jassi Di Love Marriage: Meet Mona Singh
|
Mona Singh has been making all the right moves as far as her career is concerned. She started as a not-so-appealing girl - Jassi - in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. Went on to do a dance show where she gained popularity and lost a lot of weight. And now, under her agreement with Sony, she has some great shows to be proud of.
Rumour mills are also abuzz that she is set to turn bride to marry Karan Oberoi. They make a cute couple and we'd also like to see them officialise the same.
We talk to the star about her new show and her plans to do films. We also ask her to clear the air on news of her marriage...
- You're one of the few TV actresses to be doing so much more after your soap went off the air?
I feel one has to be lucky and plan well for that. It's very important to do different things as TV has a very short-lived span. The audience should be able to relate to your character.
Jhalak has played a very important role and has given me the right platform. Winning and hosting Jhalak was a turning point in my career.
- How has life been post Jassi ?
Jassi was my first show. I was not prepared at all. I went for a break after Jassi and planned my career. Signing a contract with Sony has been a very good decision; it was very good for my career.
- Are you really getting married to Karan Oberoi?
(Laughs) No, I'm not.
- When do you do plan to get married?
You can't really plan to get married. When you have a career, you have to take it as it comes.
- What do you think of marriage per se?
I think when you are in a relationship you're as good as married because you have to compromise a lot. Marriage is just announcing to the world about your relationship.
Marriage is a complete package where one has to compromise and start a new life. And it is very important.
- Do you believe in love or arranged marriage?
They are both related. I do believe in love. The best idea is to be in love with your friend because you understand each other well. On the other hand, arranged marriage is a scary idea. So it is love marriage for me.
- You also seem close to family... how much of a role do they play in your life?
My family plays a very vital role in my life and they are my first priority. When I started my career, I was living in Mumbai without them. But I couldn't do without them. I used to come home and feel very lonely. So I called them to live with me.
I'm very close to my mom and dad, especially my dad because all my decisions are because of my dad. He guided me through each and every decision, career or otherwise. They are very important to me; I can't do without family at all.
