Love in the time of crisis: Mahima Chowdhary
Love is...
Love can mean so many things. Normally, when you love something then you want to possess it. Love could also mean setting the person free... not wanting to own him. Love is also being selfless. A mother's love is selfless. As children we may not understand that love. Love is when we want someone's happiness over ours.
Not a one off thing...
No I don't believe in one life one love phenomenon as shown in Hindi movies. Love may happen many times. Look at Elizabeth Taylor -- forget about falling in love, I think she is married six times. Some people may fall in love just once. But normally, there are infatuations and crushes, then you fall in love, start hating, then fall in love again.
Bygones be bygones...
Past relationships can hinder the present ones if we allow it, if we are narrow-minded, if we want to live in the past and not in the present. It's not important what you did in the past; I don't think it's a good way to judge people according to this.
Relationships rarely work...
I don't see relationships working at all. I have seen people staying together but it's just that when you are celebrated, when you are a celebrity, chances that you will walk out of a relationship are higher than staying on in a redundant relationship. A lot of relationships are dead. Whereever there is independence people easily walk out on each other's face! But that doesn't mean people in Bollywood don't believe in marriages. They do.
Marriage means...
I very much believe in the institution of marriage. To me, marriage means family. Marriage gives me a nest, it gives me security, warmth, love, future, children... all of it.
My first crush...
I think I was in eight standard when this happened. My first crush was on my physics professor (laughs). He was the only man on the campus as I was in an all-girls school. There was a Geometry teacher too but he was old. And there was this young dude coming in to teach us physics. We all had a crush on him. |
