Katrina Kaif: Don't Believe Every Rumour You Hear
|
A model-turned actress who is not proficient in Hindi has dared to work with Bollywood, Telugu and Malayalam films. And she is now set to make her debut in a Tamil film.
Welcome was her biggest hit of all times this year. Fighting rumour mills, she also accompanied beau Salman Khan to unveil his wax statue at the Madame Tussauds museum. We spoke to the actress about her career, films and Salman Khan.
Are you enjoying your journey in Bollywood?
Ans: Absolutely! I'm loving every minute. This is like living a life of dreams. I am working with great directors, travelling, meeting new people and learning. It's the school of life and what can be better than this?
While growing up, did you ever think of becoming an actress?
Ans: While growing up I wanted to do a lot of things. But most importantly become a doctor. My parents were strict and they believed in proper education and a proper career. Taking up acting as a career was never a consideration. But once I became a model, I started floating the idea and here I am today.
People say that it was due to Salman that you made it this far in the industry. What do you say to that?
Ans: People say a lot of things. When I entered the industry I was very young and he guided me because I needed it. But a person can help someone only to a certain extent. Without talent no one can survive. I am here due to my own determination and hard work. And he is always there to help me when I need it.
It is true that he is upset that these days about you choosing to sign films without consulting him?
Ans: (A little agitated.) That's rubbish! I always decided on films, which I thought would be good for my career. I look at a lot of things like director, script and banner before deciding. It is my career after all, so why should it upset anybody?
He seems to have a problem with that and also with some of your co-stars.
Ans: Then you should ask him why, because it does not concern me.
There are rumours that you guys have split.
Ans: (Laughing.) Of course there will be a rumour like that. How else will gossip magazines sell? Don't believe every rumour you hear.
