''I Like Playing Neat Roles''

Fardeen Khan who has worked in more than thirty films, and is known for his flawless comic timing, will soon be seen in the comedy venture Dulha Mil Gaya. Fardeen has given one of his best and finest performances for this film. He started with serious roles but humour soon became the essential factor of his performances.
Here's a close gup-shup with Fardeen on his movie Dulha Mil Gaya, which he says is NOT a comedy movie.
You are known for your comedy flicks. Dulha Mil Gaya is also of key importance for your career?
So far I have worked in thirty films, out of which No Entry, Heyy Baby and All The Best, were comedy movies and they were well acclaimed at the box office. People believe that I have done lots of comedy movies and am good at it. But the fact is I have done more romantic movies and Dulha Mil Gaya is more romantic than comedy, though my character has shades of humour. My role is of a person who doesn't want to commit to one individual and because of that there is lots of confusion in the whole movie..
Your role in this movie?
My character is of a young brat, Tej Dhanraj, who has got a huge chunk of money in his account and he doesn't realise how and where to use this money. He is a spendthrift and smutty guy. He doesn't bother with love, relationships and family values. Earlier I was offered a few roles resembling this character but I avoided them, as I didn't wanted to play such roles after the movie ''Hum Hogaye Aapke''. I wanted to play neat characters when it comes to romantic movies. What I like about Tej is his deep approach towards life though he is a brat. He looks up to certain values in life and this brings a lot of improvement over the period. He falls in love and with this he changes.
Why was the movie delayed?
Yes, there was a delay and it took nearly 2 and half years for the movie to complete. The audience will never understand as to why the movie got delayed nor will they realise as the filming is done very cautiously. The actual reasons are many like date problems, the director Mudassar Aziz and producer Vivek Wasawani lost their father respectively. My dad was ill and he too expired. Things were not in place and so this attributed to the delay of the project.
What do you think about newcomer Ishita Sharma in this movie?
I think the role required a new face and this whole film actually shows a small town girl's journey from Amritsar to America. How she changes herself, her life and to an extent her name from Samarpreet to Samaira. She is like a surprise package and she has put in a great effort.
It's you first film with SRK?
Yeah! Shahrukh is a very professional man. He wants to work on every scene very smoothly and that's what people like about him. I have done 3 scenes and just one song and I cherished those moments. Apart from professionalism we share a great bonding as friends.
How was it working with a new director?
Mudassar is a great human. He had written Zindagi Rocks and has worked with great directors. Vivek Vaswani has known Mudassar from a long time and when Mudassar came in to explain my role and the movie, I could sense the level of maturity and the fair play in his script. I think he can be one of the best directors in the long run.
Sushmita Sen will also been seen sharing space with you?
Sushmita Sen and I make are great friends in personal life. She is not just a great actor but also a cool person to work and gel around with. I have worked with her for the first time and I think we have put in great efforts for this film.
You overall experience with this movie?
It was great love being around so many new experiences like Ishita who is a newcomer, Mudassar who is making his directional debut, Shush and SRK with whom I worked for the first time. For me it's like a New Year package.
