''I Have A Great Rapport With Ramu''
Fardeen Khan
|
Bollywood star sons are frequently in the news, either due to their acting prowess or other infamous deeds. Fardeen Khan is one such star son, who is currently making waves thanks to his solo hero flick - Ram Gopal Verma's 'Darling '.
Seems like you are one of Ram Gopal Verma's favourite actors since you appear in his films time and again?
That's correct. I did the second film of my career - 'Jungle ' with Ram Gopal Verma. Since then I've worked with him in four movies including 'Pyar Tune Kya Kiya ' and 'Bhoot '. 'Jungle' was only the second movie of my career, whereas 'Darling ' is my 21st film. In all this time, I have gained tremendous experience on the job. This is another reason for my great rapport with Ramu. Now we are practically on the same wavelength as far as any character, any story or any scene is concerned.
Your last two films with Ram Gopal Verma didn't exactly set the box office on fire. So weren't you a little hesitant signing on for 'Darling '?
Success and failure are part of life. While accepting any new film with a maker, I don't really dwell on how much business my last movie with him did. Whenever I get a new offer, I focus on the subject matter of the film, the story, screenplay and my character in it. If I am convinced by all these factors, I sign on for the film. I have enjoyed every film that I have done with Ramu and thus share a good equation with him. And the fact cannot be overlooked that Ramu has allowed me to play diverse characters in each of his films; characters that have been appreciated by the audiences too.
What would you say about 'Darling ' and your role in it?
I play the role of Aditya in this movie. It is a different story; in fact I cannot slot it in any particular genre. This movie will scare you, make you cry, make you laugh and entertain you all at the same time. It's a very exciting and inspiring movie. The character of Aditya demands an extensive range of emotion and some intense acting. There are a lot of unique scenes in this movie. How a youth who is stuck between two women takes care of the situation - that will be something to see!
The title of the film is 'Darling ' but its catch line is 'A Killing Lover'. Aren't the two contradictory?
Watch the movie and you'll know! What I can tell you is that there are ghosts and supernatural elements in the movie too. In the movie, a man is stuck between his wife and his girlfriend. How he comes out of this situation is what the movie is all about.
On the surface, the story of 'Darling ' and 'Pyar Tune Kya Kiya ' seems quite similar, wouldn't you say?
But when you watch the movie, you'll know there's no such similarity. In 'Pyar... ' I played the role of a Model Photographer, whereas in this movie I play an Executive Manager in a company. My character is in love with his secretary, due to which there is a twist in the tale.
So Ram Gopal Verma has tried to change your romantic image with 'Darling '?
Perhaps that is what he has tried to do. However, Ram Gopal Verma thinks that I have a very charming personality, and personally I'd like to keep it that way!
