A dream wedding
All of us dream. And when it comes to a very special moment of our life called marriage, our wings of imagination fly us to the most romantic and astonishing visions.
Celebrities are no different! They dream too and hold their wedding dreams close to their heart. In a heart-to-heart chat with ShaadiTimes, some of our yet to be married celebs disclose what their dream wedding looks like.
Remember the gorgeous and sexy underworld aspirant from Aawara Pagal Deewana ? Aarti Chabria dreams of a water wedding, literally. "If you say a 'dream wedding', it would be in a glass house in the middle of an ocean! The glass house should be decorated with lots of candles, flowers and other beautiful things. Close friends and family would make the event complete. I am not really keen on jewellery and costumes but since it is a special day, I would love to adorn the bride's costume with all the shringar."
In spite of such unusual idea for her wedding, Aarti is an Indian at heart when it comes to traditions. "I believe that marriage is the meeting of two souls. Until you are married, you are living two separate lives but after marriage it is just one life for the two of you. It is a spiritual matter and I will want it to be a spiritual affair. I firmly believe in the seven pheras and agnisakshi promises along with each pheras . I think it is very important." Her costumes will be done by "a designer who is hot at that time".
Her dream wedding completes with a lavish honeymoon. "After the glass house wedding, we will proceed in a luxury cruise for a honeymoon." As erecting a glass house in the middle of an ocean will be a little difficult for the wedding planner, Aarti gets practical. "I love water bodies. So the next best option would be to have a beach wedding in Bali or Maldives."
Ashish Chowdhary has a crystal clear vision of his dream wedding. It definitely isn't the traditional Indian wedding. He says, "I'd definitely not go in for the normal rituals. No pheras and pujas for me. I have always wanted my wedding to be special. I would like to step out of the country and get married in Switzerland or London. It will be at a church. I love the idea of wearing a tuxedo and a white gown for my bride. But with all the guests wanting to join me in Switzerland, I don't think it will be a practical idea."
So the next best option for him would be to downsize his dream wedding. He insists that even after that, it would definitely not be in Mumbai. "If not Swiss then it has to be Goa for a beach wedding and the dress code will be bikinis!" Sure Ashish has wicked ideas when it comes to his wedding prep. When asked who would design his swimming costume (read wedding costume), Ashish has a good laugh and says, "It's not important who designs it. Whoever will be the hottest designer at that time should do it for me. Anna Singh is my rakhi sister and Vikram Phadnis is a good friend, there are other designer friends also... everyone might contribute in some or the other way." And what about the bride's jewellery? He quips, "Luckily my girl friend doesn't like the jewellery. And it is always easy to bribe them and save some money there!" Well, if not the shining jewels, at least lets be assured that we are going to see a lot of designer beach wear during this wedding.
There is another theme that excites Ashish. "I like the Christian theme, the one shown in My best friend's wedding . I would love to have a nice ballroom party and raising a toast." However, no dream wedding is complete without the dream honeymoon! Ashish agrees completely and tells us that it was when he was 18 years old that he decided his honeymoon venue. "I went to South of France and I fell in love with the place. Monaco, Cannes... so many other places. It is beautiful. I would love to go there and then cruise around further."
Soon to be married, actor Varun Badola is a simple man with simple dreams. He says, "I have no such lavish dreams. I don't want a grand affair. If I could, I would've got married with just few friends and immediate family around. But being the only son and Raajeshwari (his fiancée) being the only daughter, it is not possible for us. More than us it will be our family's dream wedding. In fact, I suggested that we elope and get married- that would have been fun and adventure!"
Coming back to what makes a dream wedding, he says, "My idea of a dream wedding is that all my guests come and have a great time. Also, it is very important for me to have a quick marriage. I cannot sit for the six hours wedding that takes place according to the Uttaranchal traditions (where he hails from). A 25 minutes wedding and four pheras at the Gurudwara is the best for me. Why take seven pheras when we can get married in four?" When asked who would be his designer he rhetorics, "haven't you seen me before? You know how I get dressed. I am not at all into the designer wear."
For those who haven't seen him off screen, Varun prefers to move in denims and cotton shirts and hates to wear suits. He says, "It gets irritating to raise my hand while wearing a suit. So I never wear it. But I know that I will have to wear one for my wedding. All my friends from Delhi know the big designers there and one of them would probably do my wedding suit." Varun adds that he might even design it himself. Now this is called a dream wedding couture!
About his honeymoon, Varun doesn't understand why he should travel abroad when there is so much to explore in India. He says, "I would like to go to my home town. It is called Kotdwar. It's a hilly region with rough terrains. The entire place and surrounding is spectacular. The idea is to go to a place where we can enjoy without being disturbed and still be just a few hours away from our family and loved ones. Also, I don't know when we will go there again after this."
Unlike Varun, Dipannita Sharma isn't getting married soon. She says that she hadn't thought of this before. Her off-the-cuff imagination takes her to a wedding, which is very simple. "I would love to have a simple affair with all my guests coming and enjoying. For me it is very essential to have good food." She will like to have a multi-cuisine dinner with something to everyone's taste and delight. The venue- "Goa will be an ideal venue. It shall be fun to have a wedding there as the surroundings are really romantic and the guests will love it too."
Dipannita adds that she will follow all customs and traditions. She doesn't like the idea of a lavish wedding. Almost like the other celebs, she will get her wedding outfits designed by someone who is doing well at that time. Being very romantic at heart, Dipannita's dream wedding will be complete with a dream honeymoon in Greece. "Greece seems to be a very romantic place. I haven't been there before. It will be nice to go there for the honeymoon."
Dreams make us live with hope and joy! Tell me, what does your dream wedding look like?
