Divya: A Lady With A Golden Heart
|
A through and through Punjabdi kudi, Divya Dutta has come a long way proving many wrong. The lady holds a strong and a substantial position in Bollywood with movies like Shaheed-E-Mohabbat and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Divya has faced Indian Cinema with buoyancy and now she is moving on to become an International visage too.
We got nostalgic with twice National Award nominated actress Divya Dutta who gets patriotic.
- Divya your strong point in the Industry was patriotic movies?
Yes! Movies like Shaheed-E-Mohabbat, Train to Pakistan, 23 March 1931: Shaheed LOC Kargil and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero. All have been a great inspiration and a strong point to represent the actual ''me''. I think these roles have great resemblance and they put me in that era completely. When you are portraying someone who represents your ancestry, things totally fall in natural phase. But when you are doing fiction you have to put in more colour and add in new features and life to it.
- Do you associate yourself with comedy or emotional roles?
I am a complete person. I am like clay that moulds based on the suitability of the role. I am a female ''Sanjeev Kumar'' who is versatile and doesn't limit herself to one particular face. Well, I am not boasting about it; ''An actor is a multifaceted personality, he or she has to drape oneself in roles just the way one drapes different attires''.
- A role filled with memories?
I had met Subhash Chandra Bose's family. During my visit his relatives were very warm and delighted. They said that the role of Ila Bose (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero) in the movie was close to their life and this will always be special. This incident really touched my soul.
- A moment which gained you applauds?
I am not a method actor. I have been myself in any role. When I was shooting for Shaheed-E-Mohabbat the shot required me to be intense as I am being dragged into the van by the Pakistani army while I am feeding my baby. The director had made it clear that it will be a one-take shot and I have to get into the skin of the role. Somehow I was prepared and when the army man was dragging me towards the van my mind was completely focused on the Partition. All that emotion came out in my performance. The nearby villagers were so overwhelmed that they cheered me and applauded.
- A National hero you would love to meet?
Subhas Chandra Bose! He has got amazing stature, a perfect blend of patriotism and a great human. Many stories about his prowess have been dictated in books and this has evoked a great respect in me. I would love to know him.
- Upcoming movies?
Bollywood: Hello Darling, Love Kichdi and The Weekly Bazar that will be in theatres soon.
Hollywood: Hissss and Heartland.
- Fast Forward:
National Anthem: Jana-Gana-Mana
National Flower: Lotus
National Bird: Peacock
Father Of Nation: Gandhiji
Nightingale: Sarojini Naidu
- Saying it with pride.
Independence is not just about celebration, but love and respect for your nation, patriots and those who have brought pride to our motherland. Jai Hind!!
